What is my education and experience background?

I completed my undergraduate studies in biomedical sciences at Ulster University in Ireland. In 2015, I made the exciting decision to move to Indianapolis in the United States to pursue a Master's degree in biomedical sciences, with a specific focus on heart development. After completing my Master's, I stayed in the lab as a lab technician for two and a half years, dedicated to advancing our understanding in this field. In 2018, I embarked on my graduate degree journey at the University of Michigan, ready to further expand my knowledge and contribute to the scientific community.

‍

What are my core values as a healthcare professional?

Helping cancer patients is an immense privilege that I hold close to my heart. In my approach, respect, honesty, and compassion are at the core. I believe in the power of trusting the science and the medical literature, while also striving to keep the patients' options open. Honesty becomes vital as I navigate their journey, always ensuring open and transparent communication. Guiding them within their unique context and working hand-in-hand, I aim to provide unwavering support. Treating patients as humans, as if they were my own family, I wholeheartedly dedicate myself to being there for them every step of the way.

‍

How do you aim to work with patients?

When working with patients, I prioritize laying out the necessary background information, ensuring there are no gaps in their understanding. It's crucial for us to be on the same page regarding their diagnosis or biomarkers, fostering clear and comprehensive communication. Establishing a core trust is fundamental to building a strong patient-navigator relationship. As we move forward, I strive to present them with a range of options, empowering them to make informed decisions about their healthcare. Effective communication remains at the forefront of our interactions, enabling us to navigate their journey together with clarity and empathy.
